Brampton hosted the Ontario Basketball Association (OBA) Major Bantam Girls’ provincial championship from April 15 to 17 and the host Warriors didn’t disappoint, coming away with the Division 4 championship.
Teams are grouped into 10 divisions of eight teams each based on their seedings from play during the season with Division 1 being the top eight. The Warriors were seeded No. 5 in their pool but exceeded expectations, defeating No. 2-seeded Gloucester 37-33 in the final.
The Warriors opened play with a decisive 54-35 victory over the No. 1-seeded Ottawa Shooting Stars. Brampton then topped fourth ranked St. Catharines CYO 48-24, and eighth-seeded Etobicoke Basketball 50-36 to finish its pool 3-0.
