On July 19th 2012, Cassandra Edwards verbally committed to Albany University in New York.
Cassandra Edwards has played for the Brampton Warriors for the last 4 years and has made a positive impact on the team. Her commitment to Albany University just goes to show that hard work, and a “never give up” attitude always pays off.
Cassandra has always been a team player, doing some of the things that not every player willingly does. Cassandra sacrifices her body at every game, running the court, going for rebounds, defending at every chance. Cassandra is a player that every coach wants on their team and the University of Albany rewarded her years of hard work.
Her talent was brought to the forefront in the last few years by her Brampton Warriors coaches – Coach Hugh Riley and Coach Jason Harris who have spent countless hours in the gym developing the Lady Warriors, bringing out the best in them.
Cassandra excels both on and off the court as she is consistently on the honour roll at Notre Dame secondary school in Brampton. Cassandra will be pursuing a degree in Psychology.
Cassandra follows in the footsteps of the many talented female basketball players that the Brampton Minor Basketball Association has produced over the last few years. Many of the ladies from the Brampton Warriors have gone on to play college level basketball within the CIS or in Division 1 programs in the US – Jose Ann Johnson(Duquesne, Pittsburgh PA), Mary Asare(Humber College), Chenel Johnson(Humber College), Sade Iriah(Northeastern University, Boston MA)Laura Whaley(McMaster University), Monika Slyka(McGill University).
In Brampton, the village truly raises the child and when one rejoices, the whole community rejoices! The Brampton Warriors family congratulates Cassandra Edwards on this great occasion!
