The select team was made up of a strong group of girls with a love for the game of basketball and a passion for competition. As the season progressed, each of the girls developed their own skills and contributed to the many successes of the team. Over the season, as a coach I had the privilege to watch thegirls learn to communicate on the court with one another and perfect their style of play. The Brampton team always showed up ready and eager to play, never wanting to quit. During the regular season the girls played hard against their other opponents, showing only 2 losses and qualifying for the championship game against the undefeated Scarborough Blues. In the championship, the girls surprised even themselves with a back and forth, high energy game. Learning a new defence and full court pressure, the girls gave the undefeated Blues a run for their money with a nail biting close finish, ending up with the silver medal. All the supporters, coaches and parents were extremely proud of the girls’ accomplishments and look forward to seeing them continue to improve in the future! Well done Brampton!
